Pennsylvania Installs New ROMA Tracking and Reporting System
This new system addresses a number of needs and issues that are common among states and local agencies as they develop and implement ROMA measurement and reporting strategies:

·The process for developing the new ROMA tracking and reporting system involved all of Pennsylvania’s 43 community action agencies through multi-levels of participation. The state CSBG office partnered the development of an advisory group and reviews throughout the evolution of the system. Such participation enabled each agency to influence the way information about families and communities would be collected, stored and reported, and helped promote “buy-in” by local agencies to the statewide system.

·The new ROMA reporting system reflects an effort by the 43 local programs to consolidate into a few categories a lot of discrete activities and outcomes that local agencies used to report under “other ” because their work did not fit into the existing ROMA measures. Literally thousands of discrete activities and outcomes were clumped into the “other” category of ROMA reporting, especially under ROMA goals 1 and 6, and were not a part of the reported story of community action in Pennsylvania.

·The new format enables local community action agencies to report how discrete services, such as transportation, childcare, or housing assistance contribute to a broader ROMA goal, such as family self-sufficiency. This is particularly helpful to community action programs that are coordinating a variety of services to achieve ROMA customer goals 1 (self sufficiency) and 6 (family development).

Several other states, including Connecticut and West Virginia, are in the process of adapting the work done by Pennsylvania to their particular needs and situation.

Community Action Program of Lancaster County -- Annual Outcomes Audit
The mission of the Community Action Program is to provide low-income families with tools and opportunities to move out of poverty. Part of fulfilling that mission is to report to our community how successful we were in achieving those goals. We believe CAP should be accountable in return for the community's willingness to provide us with the necessary resources to do the job. In addition to reporting our successes, we also report outcomes which were not as successful as we had planned.

NPTP National ROMA Peer-To-Peer Training Program Day One ROMA Trainer Manual -2005
The Trainer Manual is a comprehensive guide that provides the background, learning objectives, and script for delivery of the Participant Manual.

The background provides history, perspective, insight, and anecdotal information to support the script. You can draw from it when presenting the material.

Learning objectives provide a context for why we have this material and the message we want to convey. It is this information that is embedded in the script and it is provided here to help you deliver the material.

The script is the required core information that you are being trained to deliver. Each required message or activity such as a group exercise is shaded in this text. When reference to “follow the script” is made in this material as well as during the two-week training session, it means using the required message and the supporting material.
